Getting Golden with Jenelle Manzi
Home cook and New York City ballerina of over a decade, Jenelle Manzi started Get Golden to provide a better option to fuel her busy schedule
Happy Tuesday! I’m writing this yesterday morning as I’m trying to ease myself back into the work week. I took some much needed vacation time last week. While I’m definitely feeling refreshed there’s still a looming feeling of being behind. It seems like so many projects have crept up on me that I’ve slightly overbooked myself. Although, who am I to complain. I’m blessed to be in this position.
I’ve decided the only way I’m going to soothe these feelings is if I actually get my shit together. Waking up earlier, eating more fulfilling breakfasts, getting on a better gym schedule, heartier dinners, earlier bedtimes, etc. All the things we know we have to do but don’t always work out in every season of life.
I’ve been thinking about the concept of seasons of life since Julia from OWYN talked about it during our podcast recording. She explained that not every routine is going to feel right all the time and what works is highly dependent on where you’re at. E.g. is this a time to hustle towards a goal? or are you “sitting back” and enjoying the fruits of your labor. Each time period will consist of different self-care routines and they should! The monotony in routine that the wellness world loves to push just isn’t sustainable. So I’m taking a note out of Julia’s book and creating new routines for this busier era of life.
Podcast
We’re back for season 5! I’m so excited for you to hear all of the amazing conversations that are coming your way.
Meet Jenelle Manzi of Get Golden:
Get Golden is founded by home cook and New York City ballerina of over a decade, Jenelle Manzi (
) . After battling injuries and food allergies throughout her career, Jenelle has turned to food to savor, fuel, and heal. In that, she channeled her own experiences and knack for precision to create a snack company where health & indulgence go hand-in-hand—a feeling she likes to call gold.During our conversation we chatted about Jenelle’s balance between being a professional ballerina and brand owner. Diving into what her routines look like, why building products fueled by great ingredients was so important, how she finds balance in the craziness, and more.

Recipes
Crunchy Lemony Green Beans
Blanch your green beans and plunge in ice water. Prepare the dressing: combine lemon juice, lemon zest, grated garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Whisk till thoroughly combined. Add in grated parmesan until the desired consistency is reached. Season to taste. Drain and pat dry your green beans. Mix with the dressing and store in the fridge until you’re ready to serve.
I had this with spicy sausage links and crispy baked red potatoes. [video]
NA Tomato Margarita
Add 1 shot of tomato simple syrup + 2 shots na tequila + juice of half a lemon + ice to a shaker. Shake with ice till frothy and enjoy on the rocks! Optional: add a smoked salt rim to your glass and a lemon wedge. [video]
Pan Con Tomate
Pick out your juiciest tomato and grate it into a bowl using a box grater. Season with salt, freshly cracked black pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Slice a baguette and toast it to your liking. Add a heavy spoonful of the tomato mixture and top with lots of parmesan cheese. Optional: add pickled red onion slices on top. [video]
Everything I’ve Been Loving
Fashion/Lifestyle
La Ligne NY Dress — so incredibly beautiful and perfectly flowy for summer
Ijji Studio Jeans — I’ve been obsessed with their work jacket for awhile now and was recently reminded of how stunning their craftsmanship is, these might just be the jeans for me (after years of searching)
Kitsey Martin Ear Cuff — I want to wear more jewelry, even though almost every one of my fingers is taken up by a ring, which means I have to move onto my ears and this is just so chic
Tomato Girl Summer Tee — never have I ever seen merch so cool! I might have to snag this tee 🍅
Food & Bev
SUPR Juice — sustainably made lime juice straight from LA
Brightland Champagne Vinegar (Parasol) — as much as I love vinegar, I find myself rarely cooking with it aside from a vinaigrette. I was talking to Michael from Churn, for an episode of the podcast, and he gave me so many idea for subbing out traditional citrus flavors for vinegars…now I’m obsessed!
Episode coming late July!
